H.M.S. Royal Sovereign was the name ship of a class of eight battleships completed for the Royal Navy in 1893-94. She was sold shortly before the Great War.

Service

For the Annual Manoeuvres of 1895, the ship received a masthead semaphore machine invented by Rear-Admiral Wilson for comparative testing.[7]

Royal Sovereign was recommissioned at Portsmouth on 8 June, 1897, Captain Edward Henry Meggs Davis in command.[8]

As of 1901, in the Mediterranean, she was slated to receive a "1 to 52" W/T set.[9]
